Have you considered your site or blog’s “Most Wanted” list?

March 16th, 2010

Does your Web site or blog have a “most wanted” list? Or are you just randomly writing articles and picking affiliate products to promote? Rather than relying on luck, think about who your most wanted visitors are and what you want them to do the most. For example, do you want car lovers to visit your exotic car Web site? What do you ultimately want these car enthusiasts to do once they arrive? Buy products? Hire you to detail their cars? Subscribe to your newsletter? Post classified ads?

Take some time to really think about your site’s most wanted and you’ll be better able to write relevant, keyword rich content that attracts your most wanted visitor and guides them to your most wanted response.

Scheduling Blog Posts

December 14th, 2009

Did you know that you can schedule blog posts? While daily blogging is more intimate and “in the moment,” the occasional scheduled post can free up your schedule. For example, if you plan on blogging about a non-time-sensitive topic, such as punctuation or freelance writing tips, you could spend a few hours writing your posts and scheduling their publish dates. Once done, go on vacation or work on other projects knowing that you can take a break on blogging for a few days.

In fact, this blog post has been scheduled! I wrote it yesterday and scheduled it to be published today. Mondays are hectic for me, so a few minutes spent yesterday brings me a reprieve today.

How did I do it? If you use Word Press, you can schedule your blog posts simply by clicking the “edit” link next to “publish immediately” and then select your desired publish date.

I use Word Press, but I also use Windows Live Writer which also has a blog scheduling feature (and allows you to manage multiple blogs which I love).
