If you’ve signed up as a writer on Constant-Content.com, you may be feeling a bit overwhelmed after exploring the site. After all, over 32,000 writers are registered on this freelance writing site. How can you compete? How can you make sure that potential customers see your articles? And how can you make sure that they buy your articles once discovered? Because of the referral system (referring authors receive a small referral fee from their affiliates’ sales), many articles cover the benefits of selling articles on Constant-Content.com, but few provide you with solid Constant Content tips once you’ve signed on.
Understand the Constant-Content.com Guidelines
First, the article must pass Constant-Content’s strict editorial process. This ensures a level of quality. Customers understand that all articles have been screened for plagiarism, grammar, punctuation, spelling, clarity, and dozens of other specific points detailed in the writer’s guidelines. Even the font you choose or the file type your document is saved in could lead to an article’s rejection. One of the best Constant-Content tips is to fully understand the guidelines and adhere to them. You’ll save yourself a great deal of grief and be in a better position to sell your articles on the site.
Create a Stunning Title and Short Summary
Beyond the mechanics of the article and it’s adherence to the guidelines, it’s also important to create an irresistible title followed by an enticing short summary. Keep in mind that the customer sees the title first, the short summary, the article’s word count, and its price. If the title and short summary are dull, it’s questionable that the customer will click the Read More or Buy Now buttons.
While you could phrase your summary along the lines of “This easy reading, 500-word article explores the latest employment projections using data gathered from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. . .,” a better approach is to write the short summary as if you were writing an introduction to the article for the customer’s readers – not the Constant-Content.com customer. For example, instead of the boring “This 500-word article explores this topic” approach, try something like this:
“Did you know that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts service-providing sectors to generate nearly all employment growth between 2008 and 2018? This is good news for health care and service professionals, but it leaves those in other industries, such as manufacturing, mining, and transportation, reason to pause. Which jobs will be hot in the next decade and how can you be sure you have the skills needed to take advantage of these projections?”
Now, the customer has a stronger sense of the article’s direction, voice, and your writing abilities. In addition, if he buys the article, he also has a short blurb that he can use to introduce the article on his blog, Web site, or newsletter.
Consider the Long Summary
The long summary shows Constant-Content customers excerpts from the article. While the guidelines require at least a third of the article posted in the long summary, consider showing most of it. Customers need to know what they are buying. If you’re concerned about posting the entire article, make sure to make it obvious that the words displayed are excerpts. Use phrases such as “paragraph continues” or “article continues.” These phrases alert customers, letting them know that there’s more to article than what is shown. Otherwise, they may think that the article abruptly ends or lacks depth. Depending on where you cut off the excerpt, you may even want to elaborate by explaining what’s been left out such as, “Article continues to explore job opportunities, degree programs, and training options and then concludes on a positive note that encourages readers to begin preparing sooner rather than later.”
The Keyword Field
As you’re submitting your article, enter a series of keywords so that potential customers can find your article when searching for your topic. In our example, you might use keywords such as “labor, careers, occupations, jobs, career training” and other relevant terms.
Constant Constant-Content Submissions
Finally, keep submitting articles. While some customers enter specific search terms, others browse the category lists which are sorted with recent articles at the top. Having your article at the top of these lists ensures that your article will be seen.
According to David Kool, manager of Constant-Content.com, “Accepted articles on the site have a statistical average of selling 70% of the time. If you submit five or more articles you have a 97% chance of making at least one sale!” Kool also says. “If you write it, they will buy it. And if you write lots they will almost CERTAINLY buy it.”
These Constant Content tips are easy to incorporate whether you’re a new author to the site or one who’s been there for a while.
